LeBron James’ Girlfriend Is Fine

Lebron James and longtime girlfriend Savannah BrinsonSavannah Brinson, Lebron’s long time girlfriend, is doing much better after she left game 6 on a stretcher at halftime.

Lebron said “She is resting at home now.” and she is going fine. Savanna Brinson is due to give birth to their second child next month

Neither James nor the Cavs have said what was wrong. Coach Mike Brown said he visited the hospital after the game, but left all questions for James.

Detroit, here we come

After 15 years, the Cavaliers will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals after defeating the New Jersey Nets in Game 6 at Continental Airlines Arena by a final of 88-72. The Cavaliers will travel to Detroit to face the Pistons in Game 1 on Monday, May 21st at 8:00 p.m. (TNT)

Lebron is cleared to play friday

LeBron James hurt his right knee in Wednesday’s game while scrambling for a loose ball with Kidd. He is clear to play game 6 in New Jersey on Friday.

James’ knee isn’t his only worry. His girlfriend, Savannah Brinson, who is eight months pregnant with James’ second son required medical attention and was taken to a hospital at halftime.

“I think she’s OK, from the little bit of information I have,” James said. “It’s just basketball to me. I’ve got a family at home I’ve got to worry about.”

The Cavs seemed to play distracted for much of the second half and the Nets extended their lead to 22 points.

Cavs Defensless Effort Cut Their Lead

The Nets outplayed the Cavaliers thoroughly in a 96-85 Game 3 victory Saturday at Continental Airlines Arena.

Kidd had 23 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists for his 11th career postseason triple-double. Carter and Jefferson also had 23 points apiece as all of the so-called “Big Three” were reasonably on their games, which is the Nets’ formula for victory.

“They made plays,” Cavaliers point guard Larry Hughes said. “They definitely rebounded the ball and got a lot of help from J. (Jason) Kidd getting in there and rebounding. For the most part, I just think we didn’t step up to the plate.”

“It was all about execution,” said James, who scored a career playoff-low 18 points on 5-of-16 shooting. “I took a couple of bad shots, couple of turnovers.”

His biggest contribution to the offense was 12 assists, but there were too many times where he just seemed to be standing around.

“When it was 77-73, they were in man quite a bit and we just didn’t attack,” Cleveland coach Mike Brown said. “We held the ball and had a couple of turnovers and then on top of that we took a couple of shots that we probably should not have taken. That was not a good stretch for us.”

Rebound Or Go Home

That’s what coach Lawrence Frank laid out for the Nets the past two days in preparing them for what has to be considered a must-win Game 3 on Saturday at the Continental Airlines Arena.

“f the rebounds don’t change, it’s going to be tough for us to win,” Frank said Friday after the Nets practiced for less than an hour.

“Too many times we are giving them free runs at the rim,” said Frank, noting Cleveland had 25 shots by the rim in Game 2 alone. “We have to get back to the mentality of hitting first, which we did through the bulk of the year.”

The Nets were fifth in the NBA in fewest offensive rebounds allowed this season.

Frank is also considering some lineup changes and might go small against the big front line of the Cavaliers.

How About Our Cavaliers?

For some reason, the Cavaliers are under the radar this playoffs season. No  body is talking about them. Two of the four games in the first round were played on NBA TV. Ok… the Wizards were without their stars and most of the sports “experts” said the Cavaliers will lose one game because we are not a “contender” yet. So what did the Cavaliers do? They swept the Wizards.

Now, the sports “experts” said the Nets will give us trouble. After all, the Nets are a much better team and can be deadly with their superstars (Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson).

This series is far from over yet but we are up 2-0. Still anything can happen in this series.

But we are still not getting any credits. “The Nets haven’t played well” Chad Ford an ESPN analyst said.

In Game 2 of this series, the Cavs allowed the Nets to shoot 52 percent. It was the highest percentage the Cavaliers have allowed in 18 games. The team had been 0-6 in home games this season when allowing the opponent to shoot better than 50 percent.

As for playoff experience, the Nets have reached the NBA finals twice in 2002 and 2003.
Vince Carter averages 26.7 points in 38 playoff games.

Jason Kidd, averaged triple double in the Toronto series and have played in 96 playoffs games.

The Cavaliers never reached the NBA finals and only been in the conference finals twice.

How about Lebron?

Lebron is only 22. He’s still younger than most of the rookies in the NBA. This season, Lebron’s numbers were down from last season but he is the only player since Oscar Robertson to average at least 27 points, six rebounds and six assists for three consecutive seasons.

That wasn’t impressive enough for the NBA, James was left off the All-NBA first team, which was announced yesterday. Tim Duncan edged him for the last forward spot by getting 30 more first-team votes. James landed a spot on the second team.

I guess all these things don’t matter right now, we are still playing in the playoffs and have a chance to reach the conference finals and meet Detroit who we took to seven games last year with an injured roster, and a rookie coach. Hopefully this year, the Cavaliers will go through Detroit to the NBA championship and prove to everyone that we are the team to beat in the NBA.
